Many Andean societies boasted a dual social and thought structure, which they symbolised using complementary opposites in nature and the cosmos: male and female, sun and moon, above and below, night and day, heat and cold. These 24K gold earrings clearly complement two opposite elements; the small round tembetas were used to pierce the lower lip to modify the mouth for spiritual protection. And the pinzas, a very stylized needle found in ritual attires, which perhaps also symbolized some quadrupeds or feline animals feet. 3.2"L 24K Gold Plated Earrings Pre-Columbian Jewelry
