Ayno Lamp
With AYNO, the first new Midgard lamp design since the 1950’s, industrial designer Stefan Diez tests the boundaries between origin and status quo of adjustable lighting. This collaboration between Midgard and Diez shows Midgard’s spirit of invention. Radically reduced to the essentials, AYNO meets all requirements of design, technology and sustainability. The central feature of the AYNO lamps is a fiberglass rod, bowed by the tension of the lamp’s cable. This feature allows for a lamp without any joints. By sliding the two adjustment rings at top and bottom, the fiberglass rod is bent into the desired position and the light is directed where needed. The cable tightens the rod into an arc, with a radius that can be varied using the adjustment rings. Fine adjustments can be made by swiveling the lampshade.
