In Zen, Matcha was consumed largely for its restorative properties and ability to promote mental clarity and acuity. It rules the solar plexus and is rich in L-theanine, which promotes a state of relaxation and well-being, while also being a powerful energizer and metabolism booster. It is a potent antioxidant powerhouse, as well as containing chlorophyll which detoxifies your system. 2. Cordyceps - Native to the Tibetan range of the Himalayan mountains, cordyceps is an exotic mushroom that grows in the soil of bamboo and pine woods, and, oddly, on the heads of caterpillars. But do not disparities, commercially grown cordyceps are not harvested from caterpillars! Traditionally cordyceps have been revered by traditional medicine and by Buddhist, Taoist, and Hindu yogis for enhancing vitality and longevity, and the Tibetans believe it to be the embodiment of the mountain gods. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is thought to enhance the kidneys and lungs' qi (chi), or vital energy. 3. Rhodiola - Rhodiola - Otherwise known as “golden root,” Rhodiola has been used in Scandinavia and Russian traditional medicine for centuries. It is called Plateau Ginseng in Asia, and the Tibetans consider it sacred. It is used as a tonic herb that the monks use to enhance spiritual power and concentration, mental capacity, and endurance. The power of Rhodiola is that of the third eye. It embodies intelligence, mastery, wisdom, and intuition above all. 4. Ashwagandha - Many cultures have utilized Ashwagandha for over 4000 years, and it has its roots in Ayurvedic medicine. Ashwagandha was called the meditations rasayanas - named for the Vedic Rasayanas, which possessed Soma, or the ambrosia of immortality. It was traditionally used to tone, strengthen, and revitalize while energizing and calming the body. Ashwagandha connects us with our divine dharma, or purpose, and reminds us that knowing the full extent of our purpose and path to walk is unnecessary. 5. Peppermint - Peppermint has long been used in temples to shake up and dispel heavy negative vibrations and energetic patterns. Its aroma is a cleansing bell for mental clarity, helping wake us from mental fog. While its smell is invigorating, its effect on the gastrointestinal system is calming, which makes it a perfect accouterment to this tonic. 6. Eleuthera - Although the energy eleuthero cultivates is comparable to coffee, how it works with your body to achieve this effect is distinctly different. That is due to its adaptogenic, restorative qualities as a potent neuroendocrine regulator. It helps balance or regulate the communication between two essential systems in our body: hormone-producing endocrine cells and nerve cells. But unlike a similar energizer, Ginseng, the energetics of eleuthero is far more balanced and neutral. 7. Lion’s Mane - Like the strength and energy of the lion, Lion’s Mane represents the sacred masculine, the Animus, with the qualities of strong leadership and being a powerful provider. Lion’s Mane has been used for over 2000 years in the high mountains of Asia, where Buddhist monks were said to use it in food and tea to enhance focus and brain power. It was used to combat qi deficiency and nourish the liver, lungs, heart, and gut. This nutritive fungus expands perception and mental skills, and like its Astrological Ruler, Mercury enhances communication. It provides excellent vitality, longevity, and adaptability. 8. Maca. - A native of the high Andes, this inconspicuous member of the Cabbage family manages to withstand one of the most inhospitable climates on earth. Maca root has been cultivated in these mountains for thousands of years. It supplies local herders and their animals with valuable nutrients and stimulates fertility. In recent years, Maca has been touted as a miracle aphrodisiac. It has even been called ‘natural Viagra’ and ‘Andean Ginseng’ and is traded quite frequently in these regions as an aphrodisiac and fertility enhancer for men and women. It is an overall tonifier for the system and strengthens and invigorates without a stimulating effect. 9. Schisandra Berry -Schisandra berries are used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They are viewed as unique in encompassing all five flavors - sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and spicy - directly signals their all-encompassing, healing nature. As a perfectly balanced yin-yang pant, it can enter all 12 energy channels or meridians of the human body. It is anti-inflammatory, balances adrenal fatigue, and supports the nervous system. Its energy encourages us to ground, facilitating higher consciousness development.IMPORTANT INFORMATIONThese herbs, resins, roots, flowers, and powders are meant to be used for spell and ritual work and for connecting with potent herbal allies.
