Maya - Lucid Dreaming Tonic
Lucid Dreaming occurs when we wake up to the fact that we are dreaming, yet we still remain in the dream. In this magical moment of awakening, we can suddenly realize that all that is occurring within and around us is happening for us, not to us, and we start to become available to Life Itself. A numinous world of possibilities is unfolded in front of us, and the unconscious speaks to us easily. It is here where we merge, and become one with, the Creator. Many cultures have been aware of, and fostered, a practice of lucid dreaming. In Tibet, yogis and lamas have utilized “dream yoga”, where it is believed that the coarsest state of consciousness, the one with the least potential for awakening, is our normal waking state. The dream state contains infinitely more potential, but, if we fail to recognize the fact that we are dreaming, we will mistake it for the waking state and proceed through the dreaming in a state of delusion. This is no better than our normal waking state, unfortunately. Native American and South American shamanic practices all similarly integrate dream work. The commonality to each of these practices is that they work to access one’s total creativity, unbounded by our mind’s natural inclination toward self-limiting belief. Our Maya Lucid Dream Blend refers to the Maya, or “Illusion” of our normal Waking State. It is crafted with care with herbs known to assist or aid in lucid dreaming. Herbal Ingredients: ***Kava Kava - Kava Kava is known for its grounding presence and its ability to help bring people together in community. It directly effects the control center of our emotions, much like the Moon does. Plutonian herbs like Kava can cause deep transformations for our emotional minds. Kava supports this regeneration by allowing us to decompress from accumulated emotions and welcomes the catharsis of that transformation, while encouraging us to not retreat from our human and non-human companions, but to seek support in community. ***Mexican Dream Herb - Otherwise known as Calea Zacatechichi, the Dream herb is traditionally used for lucid dreaming Central American traditional cultures. It was said to increase the vividness of dreams and also allow one to receive messages or guidance through dreams. ***Mugwort - Mugwort and all of the Artemisia family plants are sacred to Artemis, the Moon goddess, and this strong association highlights its Moon powers of intuition, dream work, and working in liminal spaces. A favorite for centuries among Greeks and Celts, Mugwort works with our emotional bodies, just like the Moon. The Moon governs our shadow selves, our psychic abilities, the underworld and all magic. She grants us strength to work in our shadow and protects us from the parasitic energies we can encounter as we do so. She is a resilient plant, said to govern the gut, and has been used to assist with digestive conditions. She beckons you to pay attention to the signs and symbols all around you as you navigate the liminal. ***Passionflower - Passionflower- Passionflower is a beautiful flower from Central and South America, named for the Passion of the Christ. It was also known as the ‘flower of the five wounds’, referring to Christ’s stigmata. The five petals and five sepals of the flowers represent the 10 apostles, and the circle of hairlike rays on the petals represents the crown of thorns. It is also used to cleanse the spirit, acting as a bridge to “Christ Consciousness’, a direct connection to the voice within, and encourages us to honor our intuition. ***Skullcap - Skullcap is a beautiful adaptogentic herb whose name comes from the Latin scutella, or small dish or tray, which describes the shape of the calyx at the base of the flowers, which resembles a skull. It works on your emotional system, helping to ease emotional restrictions, and helps us to ground deeply into the stillness of the present moment, and assists in accepting change with ease when you are feeling exhausted, drained or depleted. It does also have the possibility to bring on late menses, so should be avoided if pregnant. ***Blue Vervain - Vervain, known as the Enchanter’s Herb, has long been held in high regard in many traditional cultures. This little flower can cultivate a deep sense of calm and ease. Blue Vervain was one of the most sacred herbs to the Irish Celtic Druids, and was often burned to deepen a sense of the sacred and invite in well ancestors. It is known to cleanse stagnant energy and open the psychic channels, and protects against negative or manipulative entities and influences. It is powerfully associated with the Third Eye Chakra. ***Blue Lotus - The sacred Blue Lotus, or the “Flower of Enlightenment”, has been utilized dating back to the Egyptian and Mayan cultures. Lotus is said to assist the soul in entering the light, and is known for its powers of euphoria, intuition, and rejuvenation. Shamanic cultures have utilized Lotus ceremonially for trance and to commune with the gods, and its role is as a mediator to these realms. Blue Lotus widens our third eye, and opens the portals of our intuitive knowing. Just as the Lotus rises from the depths of the murky water below, our purpose and power lay in the darkness, to be discovered. Lotus is here to lend her energy to this process.IMPORTANT INFORMATION: These herbs, resins, roots, flowers, and powders are meant to be used for spell and ritual work, and for connecting with potent herbal allies.
