The Air Force 1 is a legit fashion icon, no question, but with the endless variations in colors, materials, and styles that the shoe has been outfitted in over the years, it can be easy to overlook the on-court roots of the shoe that inspired such enthusiasm in the first place. The latest collaborative offering from Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci and NikeLab combines the old-school basketball roots of one of Nike’s most iconic silhouettes with the luxury sensibilities of Tisci’s high fashion experience. Classic, athletic style is the order of the day as leather uppers are rendered in two basic colorways, black and white, and complimented with red, white and blue detailing, in the form of a ribboned ankle strap, red swoosh, and ‘RT’ branding inspired by the NBA logo at the toebox.
