A Pattern in All Things

Original available for purchase   Artist Statement Titus 2:7 "In all things shewing thyself to be a pattern of good works..." My creative life can be described as a blessed unrest. The options and abundance of ideas and ideals to emulate, both inspire and intimidate me. I try to grasp and support as many as I can, like the figure in the painting. Sunflowers are a traditional symbol of loyalty, in that they face toward the sun as it crosses the sky. As a devout Christian, I strive to honor the Son (sun) of God. The composition subtly resembles a cross. I believe part of my role is to "pick up my cross and carry it" as I navigate the ominous abundance of modern life through following the external patterns of virtue, sincerity and truth.
