Decode Its! are aligned to the Science of Reading and follow a carefully planned scope and sequence. Students have opportunities to make connections between the speech sounds (phonemes) and their letter sounds or letter sound combinations (graphemes) with these practice sheets. When & How To Use: Small group instruction Home practice Independent practice Assessment tool There is 1 sheet per phonics skill. You can place the sheets in a binder, dry erase pocket sleeve, or distribute individually. Students will first identify the sound-spelling (there is a corresponding picture to match). Then, they will read words with the phonics sound-spelling in isolation. Next, they will read a short highly decodable story. They will color a star after each read. Last, to check their comprehension, they will draw a picture that matches the story.
