The Redeemers Wall Decal
"You shall not stand idly by while your neighbor's blood is shed." - Vayikra (Leviticus) 19:16 In the language of the Bible, a "goel" ("redeemer") is someone charged with the responsibility of restoring the rights and avenging wrongs done against his kinsman. In the case of a wrongful death, the term used is "goel hadam," usually translated as "avenger of the blood." That's pretty hardcore. And the terminology got us wondering, who were the greatest Avenger-like figures of the Biblical canon? You can probably see where we're going with this. Maccabee Apparel's "Redeemers" series reimagines some of the greatest heroes of the Bible (and in the case of Judith, the Apocrypha) as superheroes, and frankly, it's not much of a stretch.
