BERMUDA TRIANGLE™ Whether or not the 1878 loss of HMS Eurydice and the 1880 disappearance of HMS Atalanta were, as some claimed, the result of influence from a mysterious triangle (the vertices of which were claimed to be Miami, Bermuda and San Juan), or simply the result of explainable events, the stage was set for an enduring urban myth. Over the years, ships went missing from the triangle without a trace, like the Atalanta and the USS Cyclops in 1918. Others were found adrift with crews having apparently vanished, like the Connemara IV in 1955 and the Carroll A. Deering in 1921.
