1940s African American Folk Copper Relief | Urban & Rural

Any other attempt to purchase will be cancelled.  Here we have a stunning and large folk art copper relief of two African American men shaking hands, one representing the rural population and the other representing the urban population. The history behind this amazing artwork runs very deep. It starts with a portrait image of Elijah Muhammad in the upper center, who was an American religious leader who led the Nation of Islam until his death in 1975. And one can't help but think about one of their former member, Malcolm X. I was told the image represents the galvanizing of the rural and urban African American population. The folk art was framed by a high end framing company in Chicago. It likely was created in the 1930s or 40s in the Chicago area.
