Antique Atkins Files Tin Lithograph Sign | Rare Early 1900s
Here we have an extremely rare antique tin sign for Atkins silver steel files. There are seldom situations where an antique advertising sign crosses over into an edgy art piece, but this is one of them. The jagged, slicing lines of the reference steel files produce a modernist industrial powerhouse. Well, it is in my book. When you catch this beauty out of the corner of your eye, the knifes will be fully out. You have all the lines, then all the little reference measurements for each file. Then all the company info is classic lettering near the bottom. And the cherry on top? I've looked high and low, near and far, and I can't find another one out there. Imagine seeing this hanging in a loft or other industrial space with the half light above it. Even the bees know this is the bees knees. The rare tin sign was produced in the early 1900s by the American Art Works Company in Ohio. The piece comes out of a Twin Cities estate containing some of the rarest antique signs around.
