It grows on a shrubby, small tree that at maturity will reach 15 feet or so under good conditions. The tree is upright and spreading, with branches that diverge at sharp angles to the main trunk. The tree is commonly multi-stemmed. Leaves are more lemon-like in appearance than mandarin, broad and elliptical. The fruit is the shape and size of a typical mandarin, 2-3 inches in diameter and oblate shaped, appearing much like a Clementine. They are bright orange inside and out, with a thin, mildly adherent peel. Fruit are commonly seedless, but may contain one or two seeds per fruit.
