This is a nice, general overview of ventriloquism from the perspective of Val Andrews, a long-time British pro magician and scriptwriter. It's not generally known, but Val was the guy who wrote material for many of Britain's leading vents of the 50's... Saveen, etc. In addition, he was the long-time partner of the late British vent Terri Rogers and wrote much of her material, too.This book was published by Micky Hades in Canada in 1977. In it, Val gives a brief history of vent as entertainment, plus a section on vent in juvenile fiction. He also covers: vent figures, techniques, building an act, getting your first bookings, psychology of vent, publicity, how vent figures are made, the obligatory script, and much, much more!
