These are strictly for high altitude geographies (4500 ft altitudes and above) where the use of smaller cane diameters is necessary to offset altitude impact on aperture size. The reeds have a larger aperture than I would use here in NY, but are expected to shrink to a good high altitude range where you live. The degree of  shrinkage can vary based on your actual altitude.
