Opening Workshop - Maróczy Bind (Feb 22)

The Sicilian Defense is a popular opening at all levels, from beginners to world champions.  It can be tricky to beat, and one of White’s aggressive weapons against this defense is the dreaded Maróczy Bind. The bind pawn structure is where White places pawns on c4 and e4, restricting Black's opportunity for pawn breaks.  If Black fails to break out, White can squeeze Black... until they burst!
