The print is inspired by sailors on the Great Lakes, especially competitors in the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac and Bayview Mackinac Race.  They are two of the oldest annual fresh water distance sailing races in the world.  ORIGINAL RELIEF PRINTIn relief printmaking, an artist applies ink to a hand-carved block and then burnishes the inked relief onto a piece of paper. Multiple originals are possible by re-inking the carved surface and burnishing the relief onto a new piece of paper.
