Indigo-dyed Sashiko Threads

Renee Johnson makes and sells botanically-dyed indigo sashiko thread to artists and hobbyists around the world. In this workshop, Renee will share her process for producing these beautiful naturally-derived colors, and you'll take home 4 skeins of thread for your own projects! Each student will be able to dye 2 - 30 meter skeins of 6/20 and 2 - 40 meter skeins of 4/20 sashiko thread using Main Street Studio's indigo vats. Learn about creating and maintaining a fructose indigo vat, and tips/tricks for dyeing skeins of thread. Students will learn how to create solid, variegated and bound (Kasuri) dyed skeins.
