Tracking: 5 day

Tracking 5 day intensive with Tracker Michael Douglas MSc. We will start by covering clear print identification of tracks, use of field guides, and preparing yourself and the tracking tools needed for your adventures afield. Then we will take to the outdoors on a mini trailing expedition in the woods in and around the fifty acres at the school and the adjacent wildlife management area. This 5 day Tracking course includes animals behavior with a particular focus on bird language, a speciality of Michael Douglas. Weekend Course contents: ㅁThe Basics: ㅁTerminology, parts of a track ㅁfoot morphology ㅁPace and Direction of travel ㅁTrack Pattern ㅁClusters ㅁTrails ㅁAnimal Behaviors ㅁSeasonal, signs and scat ㅁBird Language: 5 voices, ㅁpatterns of disturbance, ㅁBase line, alarms ㅁIntuitive Tracking Please dress properly for weather. Bring water bottle, notebook, writing utensil, and a light source. Maine Primitive Skills School offers campsites to students during their stay at no extra charge.
