PT-19 Cornell Airplane Model
PT-19 airplane model. During World War II, the PT-19 Cornell Airplane Model was highly sought after due to its design meeting the Air Corps' request for a new primary trainer. With over 7,800 units produced between 1940 and 1944, this trainer was seen as a necessary tool for pilots transitioning from primary to advanced flight instruction. The demand for the PT-19 was so high that Fairchild had to enlist other companies, such as Aeronca and Howard Aircraft Corporations, to help with production. To further improve training, the PT-19A was released with a more powerful engine, and over 3,500 were ordered. Additionally, 917 PT-19Bs were built with instruments specifically for blind flying training. Mahogany Wood. Scale: 1/24. Wingspan 18 inches, Length 14 inches.
