Max Size: 8 inchesDiet: HerbivoreTemperament: Semi-AggressiveReef Compatible: YesMinimum Tank Size: 125 gallons The Convict Tang, also known as the Convict Surgeonfish, boasts an exquisite white to silver body adorned with six vertical black bars, creating a captivating appearance. Unlike other Tangs, its peduncle spines near the tail are relatively small. This striking fish makes a wonderful addition to both reef and fish-only aquarium setups. Given its need for ample space to swim, a sizable aquarium of at least 125 gallons is essential for the Convict Tang. It's crucial to avoid housing it with other species of Tangs, as they may harass it. However, if multiple Convict Tangs are introduced to the tank simultaneously, they can coexist peacefully. Distinguishing between male and female Convict Tangs is quite challenging, as they lack distinguishing characteristics. Breeding them in an aquarium setting is also difficult because their fry remain in the planktonic stage for several month
