Product Description **ITEMS ARE PLASTIC AND ARE FOR DISPLAYS.  THEY ARE NOT TO BE USED OR PLACED IN ACTUAL MORTAR TUBES! M.A.'s Replica Dummy 60mm M2 M49A2 HE Mortar round is a faithful copy of the original 60mm Mortar.  It has 3 sections that screw together;  the Main Body, Tail-Fin and Bakelite Fuse.  They are all made out of solid plastic resin molded from real inert M49 shell parts.  The main body is colored OD (Olive Drab, like originals) and has the correct shell data stencil (optional).  The Tail-fin assembly is made of resin plastic and painted OD.  It has a black band around the top and the bottom primer correctly recessed - like the orginals.   60mm mortar shells primarily used the type M52 (Aluminum) or M52B2 (Bakelite with Aluminum cap) type fuses, therefore, M.A. offers both types in colored plastic resin. We even offer a stainless steel safety wire too! (minor adjustment may be required for perfect fitting)  This is a must have for any display of 60mm Mortar shells. M.A. offers these mortar rounds with or with out data markings and "new" or "aged" to give them that "weathered" look compared to a crisp new shell. In addition, Marshall's Arsenal offers the following replica Mortar Accessory items for display with Original or Replica 60mm M49A2/A3 Mortars.  Check'em out! The War Department eventually settled on a 60mm design from Edgar Brandt, a French ordnance engineer, and purchased a license to build the weapon. The model was standardized as the Mortar, 60mm M2. Testing took place in the late 1930s, and the first order for 1,500 M2 mortars was placed in January 1940.   The M2 Mortar was used throughout World War II by the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. It saw service again in the Korean War.  During the Vietnam War, the M2 was again used by the U.S. Army and Marines, as well as by South Vietnamese forces. Ultimately, the M2 was replaced by the M224 in 1978.   Throughout the Mortar, 60mm, M2 service life, many types of ammunition shells were developed and used.  The most common was the M49A2 HE (High Explosive) and M49A3 HE "Quick" shell and used the M52 Point-detonating fuse.  It was used against infantry and other light area targets.
