Starfish, 1986
"Starfish" is a hand-signed serigraph created by Erté in 1986. The image was originally created as Flies Bergere 1919 costume design for “Fond’s de la Mer”. The print features all the elegance, grace and grandeur identified with the artist and the era of Art Deco. His brilliant work is evident in the visual movement that easily flows through the work and the print details. Theater and custom design were Erté’s first love, and its influence and world appear time and again in most of his works. "Starfish" is one of a set of wittily designed costumes which include an octopus, a starfish, a lobster a goldfish, and a stingray. This was the beginning of Erté’s work for the Folies Bergere, a profess
