Shell Drop Studs

What's more classically beachy than seashells? I mean, I get it - it's not an original idea, but dang if it isn't nostalgic. I collected these particular shells on a family trip to Palmetto Bluff in December 2022 when I was preparing for my artist in residency the following July. We stumbled upon the courtyard of Cole's, and it's absolutely covered in crushed shells. The crushed look is very cool (see the crushed shell cuff), but I also wanted to play with the shells in their full form. Our production partner, Matt, is a wizard, and he has a special scanner that can scan anything, and then print it into wax for casting (remember our collab with Greystone Needlepoint?). Meaning, he scanned these exact shells, and cast them directly into metal. I've had Robin Verrier's shell flatlays as well as a cement shell sink basin on my inspo wall for a few months now, so I think it was about time to explore this shell obsession.
