The Meeting Oil on Wood 11 x 17 x 0.125 in Plein air painting: The Meeting. I painted this on the Courthouse Butte trail in Sedona, Arizona. I had gone late in the afternoon. The shadows were coming across the mountain as the sun was setting. The whole scene was darkened by these shadows. So, I finished it up in the studio. The location contains what is referred to as "vortex energy." Many of the paintings I paint from here have an otherworldly feeling. Images come in that suggest invisible energy activity. This is one of those paintings that captured that energy.
