Opened in 1932, “Tendler’s” was a sports celebrity hangout known for NFL & NBA players and executives stopping by to eat, work and be entertained, including George Mikan of the Minneapolis Lakers and George Halas of the Chicago Bears. Adding to its appeal, the bar featured among the very first big screen televisions in the city, making it the definitive spot for watching sports, especially boxing. With boxing came betting which additionally made “Tendler’s” one of the biggest mob hangouts in the city! Finally, “Lefty” Lew Tendler himself made the bar a hot spot. Tendler is
