The Second Law of Thermodynamics Snapback Hat
Why is it so much easier to make a mess of your room than to clean it up? Simply put, it's because there are more messy states than clean states. The law of entropy states that if a system doesn't have any influence from outside forces, it will generally become less organized. You can see how this makes sense given that there are more states of disorganization than there are of organization. E.g., a broken cup can take many forms but an unbroken cup can only take one. Any arbitrary change in state is therefore more likely to change into something chaotic. You cannot break even (you cannot return to the same energy state, because there is always an increase in disorder; entropy always increases) The second law has to do with entropy. Entropy is the measure of disorder in a system. A human body is ordered and has low entropy, a puddle of fat, water, carbohydrates, and DNA has high entropy. The Second Law states that the entropy of a system can never decrease. That is, a system can never
