A personal performing favorite of John's. He's an old friend; we’ve known each other as downtown guitar nut kids since the very early 1960s, before anyone ever heard of ether of us. Just given to me by John, made in 2011, John got it directly from Dick Boak of the Martin company. Dick took care of all of Martin's artist relations for many years as well as having been the designer of their very best artist-endorsed guitars. The CEO-6 is a partial take on Gibson’s “slope-shouldered” Dreadnaughts, which themselves are a 1930s take on Martin's original Dreadnaughts. It has beautiful, select, straight-grained East Indian rosewood back and sides, a very finely-grained Sitka spruce top, and the requisite best ebony fingerboard on Martin’s “High Performance Neck” of the best quarter-sawn mahogany.
