Among Martin's very very finest, this D-41 was sold new in my store eleven years ago, put away, barely ever touched and still as fresh as on day one, not a scratch on it. Martin reserves their very finest woods for “Forty Series” guitars, which have hand-inlaid abalone shell borders and hand-inlaid abalone shell fingerboard and neck inlays. The D-41 is of the same top quality throughout as the world-renowned D-45, eye-catching abalone-trimmed border on the top and around the soundhole rosette but without the extra trim on the back and sides, to save cost. Got those cool heart-of-abalone shell hexagon-shaped fingerboard inlays and that so cool “CF MARTIN block letter abalone inlay on the peghead, along with full fingerboard and peghead bindings. It has that famous huge Martin bass, rich midrange, and sweet highs, and it sings out like only a Martin Dreadnaught can.
