Omnipod Dash Replacement Pods can be placed anywhere a standard insulin injection might be administered: the abdomen, leg, upper thigh, lower back, back of the arm, etc. The pod should be pressed flat and even against the skin. Once the pod has properly adhered to the injection site, the PDM will prompt to begin insertion. A needle will pierce the skin and leave behind a cannula that will allow insulin to be administered. The pod will also monitor blood sugar levels. The actual insertion takes 1/200 of a second and is virtually pain-free.
