UV light is used mostly to locate serological evidence including semen and for assault cases to locate bruising. The UV (380nm + 395nm) and Blue (450nm + 470nm) each have multiple modes. Mode 1 combines the two peak intensities from the two distinct wavelengths, which provide more fluorescence or absorption compared to only one wavelength. The specific wavelengths can be selected individually in modes 2 and 3. The LEDs used in the Rook Blue and UV are very precise with a wavelength tolerance of ±3 nm, which means no light is wasted (outside the useful range).
