Peru Balsam Resin
Description Peru Balsam is largely found throughout South America and is a valuable tree for its use in building as well as its resin for use in the pharmaceutical industry and in cosmetics. It was first brought to Europe in the 1500’s and is used as a flavoring in baking, desserts, and even ice cream because of its noticeable vanillin content which gives it a vanilla like aroma. With much of its production coming from El Slavador, the locals use it in their medicinal practices as an external ointment, to help relieve headaches, as an antiseptic for wounds, and is used in their cough syrups. This resin mixes well with woodsy and sweet oils to create an intoxicating aroma and feel.* With a chemical profile that seems to be highly antimicrobial, Peru Balsam is a wonderful Liquid Resin with a full background of uses.
