The GIVE skill is an interpersonal effectiveness skill in DBT that stands for (being) Gentle, (acting) Interested, Validating, and using an Easy manner. This relationship skill focuses on maintaining relationships using positive interactions. This can entail avoiding judgments and validating the other person’s emotions. The DBT GIVE Skill PDF handout includes an introduction to the skill and the acronym GIVE which is accompanied by helpful explanations on how the skill works. For example, clients will also learn to be nice, listen without interrupting, offer validation, and use a little humor. This handout benefits kids and teens by improving their social interactions, which improves their relationships. After using the handout, we recommend giving your child the opportunity to practice GIVE as they meet other kids. Feel free to pair this handout with our DBT GIVE Skill Worksheets to encourage self-reflection. *This item is an instant digital download. A link to download your files wil
