While worn, the tooth still retains serrations on the distal carina, the diagnostic characteristic of baryonychine teeth which are often lost in Elrhaz teeth. Suchomimus was recently placed in a group within Baryonychinae called Ceratosuchopsini along with the recently discovered Ceratosuchops and Riparovenator.
