The Tug is the Drug

I'd been burning fish on slab wood for a few years when one November I accidently discovered other canvases... Skateboard decks! I realized right away that I had stuff in my head that wouldn't look right on the slab wood but would be right at home on skateboard decks. Skateboards bring back memories of being a kid. Fishing takes me back to being a kid. As far as I'm concerned, they make perfect sense together. You will find knots, cracks, natural deformities, uneven surfaces and textures, as well as the occasional saw mark. These are all things that speak to me when selecting my next canvas. They are not finished, finely sanded and planed but instead what we find ourselves surrounded by in nature when we venture out into it to forget
