European Nightcrawlers (Eisenia hortensis) – Fishing/Composting Worms

European Nightcrawlers (Eisenia hortensis or Dendrobaena veneta) Also known as Belgian Nightcrawlers, Euros, or ENC’s. The European Nightcrawler is from the same family as the Red Wiggler (Eisenia fetida) but is more than twice the size. They can get up to 7 inches long and twice the diameter.  Euros are very durable, and also very tolerant of a wide range of conditions. They are good composting worms and some have said that they are the best fishing worm in the world because they are extremely active on the hook. It’s been said that they can withstand brackish waters and even ice fishing as bait.
