Hiroshige - Inside Suijikai Gate

  Ando Hiroshige Series: One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Yatsukōji, Inside Suijikai Gate (Suijikai-uchi Yatsukōji). One of the few open spaces in Edo, created as fire-breaks 筋違内八ツ小路 The vertical rectangular cartouche upper right contains the series title on a red ground; the square cartouche upper right contains the title of the individual print. The seal of the publisher appears outside the lower left margin of each print. Date: 1857 Image Size: 13 1/2 x 9 inches Condition: Staining along right edge, small repair in top blue area. Bottom of print was cropped by about 1/8" and new bottom border drawn. May be backed.
