Toyohara Kunichika Beautiful print from the series Fifty-four Modern Feelings - based on the 1828 novel "A False Murasaki's Country Genji," a parody of the famous "Tale of Genji." Chapter 13. "Akashi". Kunichika has illustrated the chapters of the story with updated, modern beauties dressed in the contemporary fashions of the day.  A courtesan is extinguishing a floor lamp in the early morning. A beautiful use of color and perspective. The shadow of her arm is seen inside the lamp. Her face is illuminated brightly. One of the nicest prints in this series.
