Kunichika and Hiroshige II An unusual collaborative Tokaido series by Hiroshige II and Kunichika "Tokaido Hitome Senryo Mitsuke". The print shows actor Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Teníchibo. A character involved in a historical incident concerning the Tokugawa clan's lineage. The Ten'ichibô Affair, occurred in 1729. A yamabushi, who was from the Kishû province, came to Edo, supported by a few rônin, to claim that he was the illegitimate son of the 8th Shôgun Tokugawa Yoshimune. He was named Genji Genjibô Ten’ichi or Ten’ichibô Yoshitane. The case was investigated by an Edo magistrate, who established that it was a fraudulent claim.
