Kunichika - The Restaurant Imado Daishichi

Toyohara Kunichika One of our favorite series from Kunichika, "Thirty-six Modern Restaurants". It depicts beauties at popular Tokyo restaurants in different locations. Women are shown serving a meal, relaxing in the garden or on a verandah, or arriving or leaving a teahouse. These colorful designs are nicely detailed with handsome interior and exterior settings showing an interest in Western perspective. In this print we see three beautiful women viewing the moon along the Sumida River. The name of the restaurant is printed on the fans and on the towel on the railing. Condition: Print color is good.
