Lacquer vs Wax Potting: Both are used to seal the wire to avoid microphonic noises and squeals. Wax potting takes 10 to 15 minutes to allow the wax to completely penetrate the pickup. This eliminates all microphonic noise and squeals. Lacquer potting is a quick dip to seal the outside of the pickup wires and does not penetrate completely. This does eliminates most of the microphonic noise and squeals while allowing the wire to remain free inside for a more high-end airy lively tone Migas Touch is a custom shop pickup maker. Our vintage 50's Tonecaster pickups are lacquer potted to avoid microphonic noises and squeals, but still remain true to the original tones and characteristics. Tribute to the infamous Nocaster using the Alnico 2 magnets giving them the Fatter and Warmer with more mid range tones.
