Up for sale, a JHS Crimson 1992 Mike Matthews Red Army Overdrive in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Produced in limited quantities as part of JHS’ Legends of Fuzz series of pedals, the Crimson is an extremely faithful recreation of Josh Scott’s own ‘92 Mike Matthews Red Army Overdrive, one of the rarest fuzz circuits of all time. The original Red Army Overdrive has a storied history: in the early ‘90s, Electro Harmonix founder Mike Matthews noticed that his original ‘70s “Triangle” Big Muff pedals had started to command serious money on the used market. Unfortunately, EHX had filed for bankruptcy in ‘84, leaving Matthews without access to his trademarks, and seemingly without a means of capitalizing on the Big Muff’s explosion in popularity.
