we are ecstatic and honored to introduce these incredible baskets to the US! these baskets are not only functional and pleasing to the eye, they also have a beautiful story. dating back to 1890 by the johansson family, who emigrated from the south of sweden to denmark. the philosophy was to create beautiful objects for everyday use, utilizing only natural materials. the production of these baskets provided a respectful living for the johanssons and their friends for many years until modern advances eventually caused production to shutter in 1970. that is, until 2016 when a friend of the family was inspired by the history and knew she had to bring these products back to life. the production of the baskets now centers around maintaining the heritage of these beautiful baskets and providing a living for talented individuals with special needs. these baskets are strong and made to last. given the handmade nature, the colors, hue and veneer will vary slightly from basket to basket and the natural patina will change over time. crafted in denmark and handmade of natural ash by individuals with special needs
