I carry my landscapes around with me focuses on American abstract artist Joan Mitchell’s large-scale multi panel works from the 1960s through the 1990s.  Mitchell combined two to five canvases to create continuity and rupture. She reinterpreted the figure-ground relationship and used color creating emotionally charged compositions that reference individuals, places, and points in time. This book offers a look into the range of experimentation in Mitchell's work, with reproductions, details of the brushwork, and essays by Suzanne Hudson and Robert Slifkin.
