Folklore Throw

Embroidered by hand on finely spun wool, this throw is a fusion of traditional Pakistani motifs, colors, and exquisite embroidery skills. One artisan takes on one piece, and spends several days working on it from beginning to end. The delicate mixture of colors and the complex, three-dimensional patterns can only be achieved by hand embroidery. These beautiful works are made possible under the collaboration between the World Bank, the Japanese Social Development Fund, and the Indus Heritage Trust. Since 2014, they have been working with some 2,600 grass-root embroiderers in rural areas of South Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan, greatly improving their livelihoods while preserving Pakistan's traditional crafts.
