Okoume-faced Plywood Siding
The aucoumea klaineana is a lovely hardwood tree native to parts of West Africa. Commonly called okoume, it's best known as a quality source for veneers, and has a similar look to mahogany. Misc Materials has this handsome wood available in plywood shiplap siding. Available in a variety of options, each sheet featured shiplap edges and a softwood finish (1 smooth side; 1 rough side). The warm, soft okoume facers are strengthened by Douglas fir base layers (5-ply in 19/32"), yet are still light-weight. Though rated as exterior grade, they do require staining or painting for outside use. Available at up to 40% off retail prices from stores like Home Depot, they're both beautiful and affordable. NEW; made by Kodiakply. 19/32" in 4x9 or 4x10. Plain shiplap & 8" OC shiplap; see drop-down menu above. For use as siding, marine applications, and more. No warranty.
