1850's French Bronze Figural Monkey Wearing a Burden Basket Match Safe Holder

We are offering A wonderful   French 1850's French Bronze figural Match safe or holder. Of a highly detailed well dressed Monkey with a red tail wearing a burden basket to be filled with matches. Match Safe's & Holders date to the Mid 19th c. when friction matches were first introduced. Used at home to light a stove or fireplaces and kept on tabletops to light cigars or pipes.
