19th C Sea Chest Painted with Nautical Scene of French Ships

A wonderful original mid-19th c. Sea Chest with a Hand Painted Nautical Scene showing  ships entering a harbor flying the French flag  The chest retains it's old  blue & red paint over an earlier painted surface below. Old original nailed edge construction with Cast iron hinges, handles & lock.   These chests were used to store  personal items with a compartment  situated near the top interior used to store smaller items. The chest is mounted on two parallel wooden rails to keep out any moisture. The interior has it's old paper lining showing lots of wear. The painted floral decoration may have been added at a later date. Condition:  Good age-relate condition with the expected cracks,   nicks & and scratches for its age.  Interior paper lining has areas of wear & and tear.
