Ea. 20th C. Rare 7.5" Art Nouveau Royal Doulton Motto Stoneware Jug,

A Royal Doulton Mottoware Stoneware Jug, with an Olive green glaze and very beautiful Art Nouveau transferware scrollwork on the top and bottom portion. The center band has some of the finest lettering seen on these jugs, with a level of expertise and style that sets this particular piece apart. The text reads:  "The wisest of people you'll find in the nationare those who when drinking drink in moderation for while a glass brightens their wit and their senseThey still have an eye to pounds shillings and pence" The underside is marked with an 1902-1922 Impressed Hallmark, featuring a Lion atop a crown.
