Rare 19thc 1891 Durgin Louis XV Sterling Silver Cheese Scoop, Monogramed “D” We are offering... A unique gold washed cheese scoop by William B. Durgin Co. made in the “Louis XV” pattern, patented in 1891. This sterling silver .925 scoop is adorned with swirling feathered patterns, florals, & shell-like shapes. 19th century Durgin Silver was a supplier of high end cutlery, sold to Gorham Manufacturing in 1905. Durgin Silver was also known for flatware, centerpieces and hollowware in the New Hampshire, Providence and Rhode Island areas. Monogramed “D” Approx. Dimensions: 7 1/4" long Scoop 'bowl' is 1" wide Weight: 58 g Marks: Durgin cursive "D" & "STERLING" (Both located on under side of scoop's neck) Condition: Beautiful age-related condition. A small amount of patina due to the nature of its age. Gold wash on scoop's bowl shows wear. This cheese scoop would be enhanced with a good hand polish.
