Angel's Envy "Mission Exclusive" Single Barrel Bourbon Finished In Sherry Casks 116 Proof 750ml

Angel’s Envy created a phenomenon when it released its flagship Bourbon less than a decade ago, finished in sweet Port barrels to give the whiskey a rounder, fruitier finish. Its subsequent rye whiskey release followed suit, using sweet rum casks as a finishing agent and lacing the flavor profile with molasses and brown sugar. While this isn’t our first single barrel of Angel’s Envy Bourbon, the private barrels previously available for retailers were simply additional barrels from the flagship formula bottled at a higher proof. However, for this latest release we were offered its latest evolution: a single Sherry cask bottled at a monster ABV. Soaked in Oloroso, this 116 proof single cask Bourbon showcases toasted toffee on the nose with a rich, unctuous mouthfeel that manages to cut through some of the heat.
